Formally known as Daramalan Rugby Club, Eagles Rugby Union Club is rich with history and success.
The sports master at Daramalan College, Father Jack Dempsey, decided to rethink his sporting approach in 1966 and proposed for a new team to join the Sub-District B Grade Competition.
Daramalan Rugby Club played their first game in 1967 entered the competition the following year and won the 1967 Sub-District B Grade Grand Final.
Eagles Rugby Union Club moved to Gungahlin in 1998, in order to strengthen and secure the clubs long term future. Acknowledged as a major ACT growth area in the youth population in the next decade and beyond, Gungahlin is bursting with young talent. The Change of locations also gave the club the opportunity for a name change and a fresh perspective.
Eagles foster club loyalty by looking after their players. The club provides ongoing support to injured players and, where necessary, attempts to assist players with employment and personal problems.
Coaches, trainers and strappers for all Grades are trained up to Level 2 certificate at Club expense.
Eagles Rugby Union Club promotes junior development as a priority and is committed to nurturing and developing the skills of juniors, as well as training to form positive habits and routines.
Eagles Rugby Union Club has seen many achievements over the years, with individuals going on to represent Australia. Craig Morton represented Australia in 1986, Leigh Donnellan in 1989 and Marco Caputo in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997. A number of club players have been young Australian representatives, and selected in ACT representative teams.
